On behalf of ‪WPHHA‬ , we would like to wish you a ‪Happy Veterans Day‬ . Thank you for your daily sacrifice and the commitment you have made to protect our Country! As we take the time to reflect on this day and to think about those who have served, we must remember that there are thousands of veterans that need our help. Many are unable to afford the services that will help that continue to live independently in their community.
The Aid and ‪attendance (A&A) ‪pension provides benefits for ‪veterans and‬ surviving spouses who require the regular attendance of another person to assist in eating, bathing, dressing, medication management and taking care of the needs of nature. These benefits are paid in addition to the monthly pension. The benefits also include individuals who are blind or a patient in a nursing home because of mental or physical incapacity. Additionally the pension can be used for assisted care in an assisting living facility.
The A&A Pension can provide up to $1,788 per month to a veteran, $1,149 per month to a surviving spouse, or $2,120 per month to a couple. This amount is subject to change and more information regarding the benefit can be found by following the link below.
Many of our veterans do not know that this program exists and even more are overwhelmed by the application process.
