WPHHA is excited to introduce Vitality, a one of a kind home health approach which focuses on post-surgical care and its unique process of recovery.
learn morecontact usHere at WPHHA we know the importance of receiving care at home, especially while recovering from surgery. In 2009 we coined the term ‘mobile healthcare ’, which refers to services such as skilled nursing, therapy and companion personal care being offered when and where you need it most, in the place you call home.
There are a lot of things to think about when preparing for surgery. What are the risks? Will you be in pain? Have you thought about your recovery and the days post-surgery? Will you be able to stay at home while you heal? WPHHA’s care team realizes through years of both education and practical experience that every surgical recovery is different. Therefore, our goals of home-based clinical care post-surgery includes patient and family involvement, shared decision-making and flexibility to help you meet your needs. We are confident that having home care services will help you recover more quickly, keep you safe at home, and just as importantly, help you avoid post-surgical complications.
Although it’s not always possible to schedule you surgery in advance, you should understand beforehand how long your recovery may take, what you will and will no be able to do, and what help you will need while in the comfort of your own home. It is advised that you speak to your doctor or your short stay discharge planner about home based clinical care prior to your surgery. If your surgery is the result of an emergency situation, a family member or caregiver could arrange for service on your behalf. It is important that you plan for your recovery, realizing that many people find themselves recovering from surgery at home the same day as their procedure. Some are unprepared to effectively manage their pain and discomfort, making it difficult for them to perform even routine tasks. It is important to remember that you may be weak and tired. Managing multiple medications, post-surgical care instructions can be confusing and properly caring for your incision can be a challenge. That’s where Vitality can help.
Vitality is personalized to fit your skilled and non-skilled care needs, based on you physician’s instruction and your own personal preferences. Post-operative care in your home environment can be arranged for as little as one nursing visit a day to 24 hours of care. Nurses can provide services including, wound care and medication management, while our partners at Comforcare non-medical home care can help with personal care, which includes bathing and dressing, housekeeping and transportation. Clients needing full body rehabilitation can take advantage of WPHHA’s in-home therapy services, which provide physical and occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, and social workers.
Vitality’s team of caring and experienced care coordinators will work with you to arrange individualized services that are customized for your recovery needs beyond traditional home health services. Medical concierge can provide the coordination of a wide range of mobile health and spa services in addition to nursing, rehabilitation therapy and non-medical home care, including:
The concierge team is available around the clock, providing specialized care and quality medical and holistic care within the privacy and comfort of their own home. Vitality’s concierge therapies and services help to heal and support the emotional and mental wellbeing, helping the patient focus on their physical recovery.
